Drilling continues at Canada's Iskut copper-gold mine

2023-07-05
According to Mining.com, Seabridge Gold is drilling for a new discovery at the lskut porphyry copper and gold mine in the Golden Horseshoe region of Brebia province, just 20 kilometers from the company's large KSM copper and gold project. Initial work will extend from the Snip North precinct to Bronson Slope. Three helicopter-borne drilling RIGS arrived at the site, and two more will arrive in the coming weeks. The drill will deploy 12-15 diamond holes with a total depth of at least 12,000 meters. The company said regional geophysical surveys and surface geology confirmed the existence of a regional structure that runs through three targets: Quat Rise, Snapple North and Bronson Throp. All the discovered deposits in Iskut are considered to be a copper-gold porphyry system structurally distributed along this area. This tectonic belt is similar to the porphyry deposit group delineated by Haiqiao Company in KSM project.
"We are very pleased to be launching the project early in the field season following the success of Iskut last year," said Rudi Fronk, CEO and President of Seabridge, in a press release. "At Snapple North, there is strong evidence from previous drilling and deep geophysical exploration of copper-gold mineralization. As the summer melts, we will follow the regional structure up the slope and continue our work below the Bronson Slop target. "Our team is confident of finding new high-grade copper-gold porphyry deposits at both targets. In addition, we see a lot of potential for additional resources at Bronson Throp right now, "he added.
The 22,238-acre Iskut concession, 110km east of Stuart between the Iskut River and the Pacific Coast, was acquired by Seabbridge Gold in 2016 in a deal to buy all of SnipGold's shares. Last year, the company drilled in the Bronson Throp area and found that the ore was 446.2 meters thick, 0.28 grams/ton of gold and 0.34% copper; Thickness 188.5 meters, gold 0.70 g/ton, copper 0.29%? Thickness 286.3 meters, gold 0.52 g/ton, copper 0.24%; It is 341.6 m thick with 0.43 g/t gold and 0.21% copper. Bronsonthrop has a presumed ore resource of 187 million tons with a grade of 0.36 g/t gold and 0.12% copper.
